- Update your operating system. Updates are required even on brand new computer you are required to connect to a website to get the updates, they will never be sent to you.
- Do not open unexpected attachments. Viruses spread themselves through multiple methods a very common and successful tactic is o send itself as an e-mail attachment.
- Keep anti-virus signatures up to date.
- Be careful. Do not open web links from unknown or unverified sources.
- Back up your data.
- Use strong passwords.
- Always use a locking screen saver on your computer.

- Have your keys ready before getting in your vehicle lock the doors immediately upon entering your vehicles.
- Keep your car in good running condition. Make sure there’s enough fuel to get where you are going and back.
- Avoid parking in isolated areas. Be alert in parking lots and underground parking garages. Park in well lit areas.
- Do not leave your house and car keys together with an attendant at a public parking lot. Your house key can be quickly duplicated and your address obtained from your number plate.

- Never pick up strangers and never go with a stranger
- If you park in a university parking lot, keep your access card in your wallet rather than inside the vehicle. Immediately report lost or stolen access card.
- Store valuables in the car’s truck or at least hide them from view.
- If someone approaches your vehicle and attempts to enter, blow the horn to attract attention and drive away.
